Itron, Inc., which is innovating the way utilities and cities manage energy and water, has been recognized with a best practices award in Growth Excellence Leadership in the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) industry by Frost & Sullivan. The award recognizes Itron for its consistently high standards for delivering customer value and industry growth in the Asia-Pacific region.
With Itron’s AMI network, developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region are able to easily integrate distributed energy resources (DERs) to meet growing power demand. In particular, the award recognized Itron’s collaboration with one of the largest utilities in Thailand, Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), to deploy Itron’s AMI solution and more than 100,000 smart meters in the City of Pattaya. Itron’s solution also equips utilities to confront other challenges such as electricity theft, revenue loss and inaccurate meter reads. Due to these capabilities, Frost & Sullivan reported that Itron’s superior solution will help it penetrate this early-stage market.
