Mazda jumps back into the pickup truck battle

The Thai pickup truck market is heating up with the Mazda brand launching its latest attack with a new pickup truck for the 2018 model year.

Mazda has been highly successful Thailand’s passenger car market, securing the No.3 position, as well as top position in the small car segment.

The time is right for the company to pursue its strong presence in the pickup market. While competitors have been exchanging blows with updated products, Mazda has been quietly developing its own weapon as well under the name of the BT-50 PRO THUNDER.

The new BT-50 PRO THUNDER leaves the traditional image of tough pickups and targets customers looking for a versatile and luxurious vehicle that answers to their daily needs.

Mazda is not a company that specializes only in passenger cars but it also provides commercial vehicle alternatives for customers who require a pickup truck with passenger car attributes.

Mazda has been developing a vehicle that is not only elegant and sporty in design, but also offers a large amount of usable space.

Apart from being used commercially, pickup trucks can also be used as passenger vehicles on a daily basis. The new Mazda BT-50 PRO THUNDER has been developed under the concept of “Make every target possible”.

Mr. Chanchai Trakarnudomsuk, President of Mazda Sales (Thailand) Co. Ltd., said, “The pickup truck market has always been the No.1 automobile market as Thailand is an agricultural country and pickup trucks are highly suitable as an all-purpose vehicle.

While most pickups in the market concentrate on loading capacity, Mazda has decided to go the other way, by incorporating more beautiful design and added versatility, plus passenger car-like qualities.

The new design sees attractive sticker graphics being added on the side of the truck while the new chrome front grille increases the level of sportiness and elegance.”

The introduction of the BT-50 PRO THUNDER is expected to help stimulate Mazda’s brand awareness among consumers. The sales target for the Mazda BT-50 PRO for 2018 is 7,000 units, an increase of 15 per cent over the previous year.

Customers include those looking for a high-performance pickup with good fuel economy and roadholding thanks to the Super DE-S suspension. Benefits include good road vibration absorption, sharp handling (with front stabilizers) and excellent directional control.

The Mazda BT-50 PRO THUNDER 2018 Collection comes with a higher level of elegance and sportiness in tune with Mazda’s design philosophy.

It serves as an additional choice for customers who want a highly versatile pickup truck with high levels of sportiness, outstanding suspension, large interior and the ability to effectively serve the modern lifestyle.

The outstanding qualities of the Mazda BT-50 PRO THUNDER helps it stand out in Thailand’s highly-competitive 1-ton pickup truck market.
